WV Logger Certification Updates for COVID-19
Information and LinksUpdated 27 May 2020
Temporary logger certifications are valid through June 2021, but it is not too early to start thinking about starting to collect your required training courses for your next application.
UPDATE 1
The West Virginia Division of Forestry will accept the Red Cross First Aid/ CPR online course towards the West Virginia Logger Certification. There are a few options available:
- Provisional Certification Adult First Aid CPR/AED — PAID COURSE good for those wanting to complete a full renewal or initial certification good for 2 years. Note that an in-person skills demonstration is required within 90 days of completing the online portion.
- We DO NOT recommend the regular Adult First Aid/CPR/AED Online course here as it does not meet the OSHA requirements.
- 120 Day First Aid/CPR/AED Extension — FREE COURSE only good for those that need some extra time before renewing the full training.
- OSHA requires that loggers complete the Blood Borne Pathogens training (note that this is not a requirement for WV DOF Logger Certification). This is available as a separate course and must be completed every year.
UPDATE 2
Temporary Logging License and Certification will continue to be valid until in-person classes resume and space is available in late June.
Classes will be limited in size with only registered attendees — no walk-ins will be permitted.
A priority will be given to those issued a Temporary Certification or needing to become Certified for an active logging site.
