WORKSHOP AGENDA
This workshop is designed for anybody interested in learning about the potential of using hardwoods to create Cross Laminated Timber (CLT) panels. WVU researchers, graduate students, and staff will guide you through the mysteries of creating CLT panels and the basics of CLT-based buildings, with a focus on the following topics:
In Class Discussion
- Certification – Why certified panels are valuable
- Preferred Hardwood Species
- Raw Material Specifications – What a mill needs to produce
- The CLT panel manufacturing process defined and described
- Options for producing and selling a non-certified CLT panel
- How buildings are constructed from CLT panels
Field Tour
- Tour the CLT panel production process
- Inspect produced hardwood panels of various species and combinations of species
- Learn about the tests needed for certification and quality assurance testing of CLT panels
- Learn about buildings made from hardwood CLT panels
- Explore the building process and see how special connectors make CLT building construction fast and easy.
